Beyond the leaves of the tree

Synopsis

A wasteland on the outskirts of a city. Pierre rediscovers the memory of his father disappeared as photographer in foreign countries. An attempt to direct access to the domain of the Sensible, in the opening of a look that approaches the elsewhere…

To rediscover his missing father on assignment to a distant land, Pierre, a man without age, attempts ultimate rapprochement. Tight in his child's shirt, the camera of his father in the neck, he goes with his sister Sofia near the city, on a huge wasteland that once his father took him to photograph.
Through a voice dictaphone and child portraits of war, will draft a discussion with the father beyond the time and distance. Along anywhere anytime, Peter opens his eyes, approaching the Other off.

Words of the Director

The relationship to the absent father needed to be expanded to a more community-based level: It's the Other one away the face of which reaches us by the press, through reportage photographs taken in regions in disarray. This search for a link (a son and his father reporter-photographer, in a time and space shifted) thus opens on a questioning: its relation to the other, abroad, to the Other one far.
By the sensory inner experience of people traversed by intensities, through a kind of wasteland with its mystery, its history, texture, climate, the film tries to reveal the relationship between a man, places of his wandering and victims of a distant war…
Indifference to lucidity through the discovery of the father's love, his involvement, his ambiguity, Pierre experiences the feeling of elsewhere. His field leads to "look real", to be open to the mystery of the Other. By exceeding its own self to be interested in the Other in its irreducible difference, it will be given him to act, to travel.

The film's plot, rather simple, leaves this universe to best reflect its thickness. This reduction creates the necessary space to open to the experience of the sensitive. The reality begins to tell us otherwise when shifts and that we re-interpreter in a vision, a re-creation, rather than simply copying the real. It is here that can be another dimension.

How to open-at least not close- those that daily information closers to us and keeps away, as an "information" without the possibility of concrete reaction would in the long run tend to make us insensitive ?

It is our attitude to the information in question. The experience of looking, a framing, a simple sounds music, makes us the desire to experience otherwise the scale of daily. The film tries, in its simple ways, to contribute to raise another consciousness for the rest of the world to which we are connected, provides an energy “to cash” more than a message.
